“Our job is not to deny the story, but to defy the ending—to rise strong, recognize our story, and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think, Yes. This is what happened. And I will choose how the story ends.” –Brené Brown
Specialization:
Children,Teens and Adolescents:
I am a strong believer in early intervention. I believe that we want the best for our children; we want them to grow up to be confident, capable, and well adjusted. As parents and caregivers we hope that our childrens’ confidence soars and that they grow to believe that they can achieve their dreams. Despite our best efforts many children and teens are struggling with anxiety, depression, family struggles, bullying, behavioral issues and low self worth. In my work I address these struggles by collaborating with parents/caregivers and the child(ren)/adolescent(s)/teen(s). We unite to create common goals and a clear path forward. We will incorporate your child’s unique interests and style of learning to create space for growth. I will integrate empathy, connection, art, play, talk therapy, honesty and trust into our sessions to provide a safe place for your child to explore the areas that they are struggling with and help them build resilience and confidence that they will take with them throughout their lives.
20-Somethings:
What happens when we graduate High School, get out into the workforce, head to college, or when we graduate college? We go from having so many decisions made for us to having to make many decisions for ourselves. It can be difficult to adjust to new life changes and transitions.
We may have to:
- Adjust to a new living situation
- Make financial adjustments
- Choose a college
- Choose a career path or trade
- Navigate our friendships in new and unexpected ways
We may struggle with:
- Balance in our personal and professional or academic lives
- Our goals
- Intimate relationships and sex
- Familial and societal expectations of us or pressure put onto us by social media
- Political or environmental stress or anxiety
In addition to those listed above, we all have unique personal factors that can add to our situation. We often feel stressed, anxious or scared about these transitions and we may not feel prepared for the new and changing world we find ourselves in.
We may feel depressed, ashamed, guilty or envious when keeping up with social media’s definitions of success. It is “normal” to feel “stuck” as we navigate these transitional years.
Individuals, Couples and Families:
It is my belief that we could all benefit from therapy at one point or another in our lives. There are times where we may need someone to listen without an agenda or we may want help in finding solutions to help us meet our goals.
You may find yourself wanting therapy to achieve goals related to:
- Life transitions
- Anxiety, depression or stress
- Communication with your family and/or partner
- Feeling dissatisfied with an area of your life
- Lack of motivation
- Coping skills
- Developing your identity
- Blending your family
Whatever your goal or reason for taking the courageous step to come in for therapy, I am committed to helping you reach your goals.
